What do Adult Volunteers do?

Adult volunteers undertake a variety of roles from coordinating, umpiring, timekeeping and scoring events through to giving out first-aid and drinks, to name just a few. They can volunteer for every session, or just a few, over the whole weekend as they are able. Many help set up for the Saturday night service and hand out dinner to the hungry participants as well.

In response to Christ’s love, adult volunteers of all ages utilise their talents and abilities in enabling young people to participate in a Christian sporting weekend. The weekend really would not happen without adult volunteers. They are absolutely essential.

State Youth Games participants respect adult volunteers in their various roles, especially when umpiring and making difficult calls, because they appreciate those adult volunteers are giving up their weekend for them. In turn, adult volunteers are blessed by being surrounded by the exuberance and energy of so many young people enjoying friendly and healthy activities.

For many adult volunteers, they are simply passing on the blessing, and following the example that was given to them during their youthful years, from caring and supportive adults in their time, with the expectation that today’s youth will do likewise in the future.
